- ACT/Technico (www.acttechnico.com) - ACT/Technico (www.acttechnico.com) introduced their newest media storage solution single board computers (SBCs) systems in embedded and real-time integration projects. ACT/Technico specializes
in bus-based industrial and ruggedized applications using CompactPCI bus, VMEbus, and PC bus products.
"The PMCStor utilizes IBM's Microdrive technology to provide high capacity storage in a small space," said Ken Grob, Vice President of ACT/Technico.
"This versatility allows us to provide better solutions for the embedded market, particularly where space and environmental performance come at a premium. Users no longer require an additional slot to support disk drives required in the system. The drives may now be mounted on the SBC."
The PMCStor is implemented using the industry standard PMC form factor. Each PMCStor provides two CompactFlash sites for Microdrives or CompactFlash devices.
ACT/Technico has also released extensive
RTOS driver support for the PMCStor, including VxWorks device drivers, and the first commercially available ATAPI driver package for VxWorks.
The ATAPI capability allows external versions of the PMCStor to interface with drives supporting removable media such as LS120 compatibles, and ZIP drives.
ACT/Technico has
designed and integrated system solutions for a wide variety of organizations including NASA, AT&T, General Electric, Raytheon and Oracle. Typical projects use some combination of custom designed and commercially
available hardware, as well as real-time software from Wind River and LynuxWorks. ACT/Technico plans to use Microdrive products in many different types of systems, including industrial real-time process control,
telecommunications and communication applications, ruggedized military systems, and others.
