VITA - VMEbus International Trade Association - Open standards, open markets

VITA is an incorporated, non-profit organization of vendors and users having a common market interest in real-time, modular embedded computing systems. Accredited as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) developer and a submitter of Industry Trade Agreements to the IEC, the VITA Standards Organization provides its members with the ability to develop and to promote open technology standards. Some of VITA’s standards include VMEbus, PMC / XMC, VXS, and VPX.

PICMG - PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group

Founded in 1994, PICMG is a consortium of over 450 companies who collaboratively develop open specifications for high performance telecommunications and industrial computing applications. The members of the consortium have a long history of developing leading edge products for these industries.

PICMG specifications started with extensions of the PCI standard and have continued to evolve. This has resulted in a series of specifications that include CompactPCI®, AdvancedTCA®, AdvancedMC™, CompactPCI Express™, and COM Express™.

A non-profit organization, IEEE is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology.

The IEEE name was originally an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. Today, the organization's scope of interest has expanded into so many related fields, that it is simply referred to by the letters I-E-E-E (pronounced Eye-triple-E).
